Yesterday a hiker fell from Mt. Ellinor
Rescuers are trying to reach a hiker in the Olympic Mountains who reportedly fell 150 feet.
The hiker is said to have suffered injuries and was bleeding from a head wound.
Plans call for airlifting the hiker to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The hiker's identity was not available.

Yesterday we took the 23 line all the way from the Skokomish valley to Lake Whynoochie. I've been wanting to that for a while. This was my first time seeing Lake Wynoochie and I think I would like to camp there. We also stopped at Spider Lake and the Upper Satsop Lake. Upper Satsop Lake is a gem. It is a magical place to me surrounded by an old growth hemlock forest. I've always hiked to it in the past but I knew there was a way to drive to it and I figured it out.
Next week end I expect to do some hiking and camping. This week end was taken up by a leaky gasket. We had to shampoo the carpet where the water heater cold water intake had leaked. Wow that was a lot of work and my legs are tired today but the carpets all look better. I'll never buy another cheapo Bissel carpet cleaner. This rug doctor one that we rented worked so much better. The detergent is a rip off and I think I will see if I can used washing machine detergent next time.
Maybe my runny nose was not a cold, maybe the mildew growing in the carpet around the hot water heater was the cause of my runny nose.
I'm still stuck with dial up internet access so I can only upload tiny pictures. I hope that the fact that I just finished a photography course is reflected in my pictures.

In England they call "plumbers crack" "builders bum"
Joe the licensed plumber came to my house to day.
HE WANTED $2000.00 TO FIX a leaky gasket.. my husband and I argued about it and in the end we paid them $300.00 to fix a leaky gasket. My husband is happy. I'm a bit pissed. What a fraud; trying to sell me a new water heater just because a gasket leaked and then refusing to replace the gasket and insisting on replacing the entire intake pipe and then stating that they always replace
pipes in pairs so they also had to replace the outlet pipe.. what a fucking fraud. I HATE PLUMBERS!
My water heater is a ticking time bomb! You can't say you have not been warned. Perhaps the city should be evacuated. No the entire Olympic peninsula needs to be evacuated now. My water heater is a ticking time bomb! Get off MY TRAILS right now!
I did this when I first moved into my house and it worked perfectly. I'm posting it here for posterity.
My cold water inlet for my hot water tank is leaking at the nut. I bet this would be an easy repair but my husband insists on calling a plumber... sigh.. I packed the outdoor faucet nuts or whatever when I first moved into my house. I bet this is a ten minute repair. But I'll be waiting all day for a plumber to arrive between 12 and 5. So I won't be camping this weekend.
Better Water Pressure For Only Ten Cents

Often, the water pressure at one hot water faucet starts to slow down. Sometimes the reason is mineral deposits. The heat causes these minerals to separate out much more readily than it does on cold water lines.
Here's a trick that may restore the pressure. It's an easy step-by-step way to back flush the slow running faucet to a faucet that still has good pressure.
1. Reach in your pocket and find a dime.
2. Go to the water heater and shut off the cold water supply to the tank.
3. Go to a hot water faucet that has good pressure. Open the valve and leave it open.
4. Remove the aerator from the sluggish faucet.
5. Put the dime in the aerator and install it back into the spout.
6. Open the hot water tap.
7. Turn on the cold water side.
Now, the back flushing has begun!
No water comes out of the spout because the dime is blocking it. No hot water is running to the faucet because the water supply to the heater is shut off. The cold water that can't come out because of the dime can go through the hot water line to the open hot water faucet where it can come out.
The pressure of the water flowing through the shuggish faucet will blast loose the deposits. You can probably see this sediment as it comes out.
Next, shut off all the faucets, remove the dime and restore the water to the heater.
With any luck at all, you'll have improved the pressure considerably and you got your dime back!

My class is having a Photography Show
This week tomorrow and Friday my class is having a black and white photography show. The show starts at noon on Thursday June 4th and goes until 5pm and it will be open from 9am to 3pm on Friday June 6th. It will be on the Evergreen campus in the SEM II building room number E4115. I'll be playing the role of docent from 1:00 to 2:00 tomorrow.
Our class has really worked hard and it shows. We have all learned a lot in the past ten 9 weeks.
My work is all done now! Well except I have to write a self evaluation but I can put the off for a few days. It felt strange to not have a whole bunch of work to do now. I'm glad I matted my pictures on Monday the room for matting pictures is small and crowded. Matting my pictures really did my head in, it was almost more then I could handle. Today the room was even more crowded because most of my class has put off their work until the last minute.
Tomorrow we hang the show and that is the last day of class. After next week if I want to use the darkrooms at the college I will have to pay $125.00 so I may stop printing pictures until fall quarter.
I hope to do an independent learning contract in the fall so I can be home before and after school for my 5 year old who will be starting Kindergarten. If I can't do that I might take the quarter off. The contract is written, I just have to find a faculty member to sponsor it. My contract combines photography with upper level science and that might not be possible. Maybe I will revise it to pure photography.
I hope to go camping and hiking in the hoh rain forest with my family the week after next. I need to do a lot of hiking to lose the weight I gained while I was too ill and too busy to go hiking during the school year.
One way I dealt with my mania this quarter was to try to do my work during the quietest times and on a different schedule then the rest of my class. My class mates tended to rush to develop film they shot over the weekend on Mondays so I instead, printed on Mondays and developed my film on Tuesdays. During lunch I hid in the woods instead of sitting inside with all the noise, people and fumes. I did not make any friends this quarter and it felt kind of lonely but I did what I had to do to keep my stress levels down.
Right now with the stress of finals I'm quite manic and I even thought I saw the State Patrol following me home from class today. But I expect that I will calm down over the next few weeks. I'm still much calmer then I was at this time last year when the axe fell. I've been manic / hypo manic for over a year now. I'm beginning to think that hypomania is my normal state.
