Seattle

Bainbridge Ferry pulls into Bremerton loaded with passengers
The Blue Jays were in town and a lot of people came to watch the game

I did not feel like taking the 6:45 am bus and there is no where to park in Bremerton, so my only option was to take the 10:30 bus and only get 4 hours in Seattle before the last bus for home leaves.  A shorter day than I would have liked but I still had fun.  I miss being able to park in Bremerton and then stay in Seattle all day instead of being saddled to the bus schedule.

The "Blue Angels"
The Blue Angels were in town for Seafair weekend, but I did not have the right camera to capture them and I'm really not fond of war games anyway.  I love the movie "wargames" though.

First I walked up to capital hill to see my photo on display at the Starbucks.  My photo was one of the 40 out of 500 submitted that got selected for a second showing as part of Northwest Photographic Center's Longshot 2018.

Seattle is changing so fast, I think if you don't visit it at least once a year you will feel lost there.  Cranes and buildings are going up everywhere.

One of the newer and more reflective buildings in town

A very rare selfie with my reading glasses on

I got my 100, bulk pack of G7 coffee and the Hou Hou market and then wandered down to Uwajamia for lunch.  I don't shop in that expensive store, but I do like to eat in the food court.  When I am dining alone I prefer a quick deli or cafe style meal over a sit down restaurant meal.

My photo on display
Lunch was sweet miso egplant, mackerel and tea

The ferry back home was nearly empty while the ferries still going to Seattle were packed.  Due to the nice weather everyone was out on the sun deck with me so I went to the car deck to get some peace.  One guy who came and stood right in front of me on the sun deck went down to the car deck and did the same thing to me again.  Sheesh..  What is so wonderful about standing in front of me?

Dude just loved standing in the middle of my landscape photos. I did
not let that stop me from taking pictures though.  He might be a cop, he is
wearing the same sun glasses that all the cops wear.

The Chimicum is a new ferry and has no cell service and no character
I don't like riding this boring boat.  But I am proud to say that I got to ride
on its first ever run even before the grand opening when it filled in for another broken ferry.

Same dude decides to stand in front of me again so I made lemonaide out of the lemon

When I got off the ferry in Bremerton a big Mason Transit bus was waiting to whisk me home.  I like it when they put a large bus on that run.  There is more room to spread out and the ride is less bumpy.  The ride from Bremerton to Shelton takes almost two hours, but it beats driving.

6 miles with about 200 feet (?) elevation gain

My first trip past my Step-father and mothers house  since they both died.  I always  reminisceon this ferry.  The foot ferry that my grandparents met  on always  pulls in to meet this ferry. On the other side is the ship yard where I was  born. The ferry route goes over Sinclair Holewhere we put my Grandparents ashes after tossing  them off of the same foot ferry they met one.  Coming through this area can be hard on me.  This  time I decided that I need to move on and live my live now and try not to think about the past and the dead so much.  "Keep Moving"
Time to Leave Bremerton

The Walla Walla, my old work boat when I drove for
paratransit.  It is nice older boat with character and cell service

So many people have been left behind in boom town Seattle. 1,000 people move to
Seattle every week and property prices are out of reach for most of the old timers

Seattle the weekend before Christmas

Getting on the Bremerton Ferry

The Olympic Mountains glow.   Seen from the 9:35 sailing of the Chimicum

New Shoes,  Downtown is kind of quiet and all
the bikes in the background make Seattle look like
a different city today.

City is kind of quiet the Saturday before Christmas.  An ambulance
and a stretch hummer pass below the Bon Marche sky bridge. (now Macy's)

The Seattle wheel is looking good, seen from the 5:30 sailing of the Chimicum
We walked 8 miles.

Pokemon hunting in Seattle

The Hyak!!!!   My ride to Bremerton.  My favorite ferry of all, picked when I was just a child,
so happy to see it still running.

Bremerton Shipyard where I was born.  Bremerton is full of ghosts for me.
My mother lived there most of her life and she died recently and my both
of my  grandparents ashes are in this bay.  We tossed their ashes off of the Carlise II foot ferry
that Grandma used to work on and where my grandparents met.  My family used to own the foot ferries

Ghosts on the ferry

I always have this coffee on the ferry.

More ghosts

I always have this coffee on the ferry.

A picture worth framing

I do enjoy all the interesting lights and shapes to photo on the ferry

coming into Seattle

We were getting low on Vina Cafe so it was time to make a trip to Seattle.  To get to Seattle from here, one does not need a car.  I started my day by getting on the 8:05 bus to Bremerton and then taking the ferry to Seattle.

I can't play Pokemon on the ferry because it runs faster than 25 MPH.  What a shame.

Once in Seattle I wandered around downtown hunting for Pokemon and spinning pokestops until my legs were tired.  Then I hopped on the Monorail to Seattle center just for fun.  I found that Seattle Center had some great Pokemon and I enjoyed the Monorail trip.

After about an hour at Seattle Center I took the monorail back downtown.  From West lake center I walked to King Street in China town and had my favorite lunch of Takoyaki and a can of coke while I did a lucky egg evolve mass evolve session in Pokemon.  Pokemon was having a double XP event and I was taking full advantage of it getting quadruple XP by using a lucky egg at the same time.

I managed to make my goal and reach trainer level 33.

Next I walked up to my favorite store just East of the free way and loaded up on Vina Cafe, Mochi balls and coffee candies.  Next I walked back down to the waterfront and sat by the great wheel until it was time to take my ferry home.

China town in the evening sweet light

Took the 5:30 ferry back to Bremerton.  I refuse to stand in the glass tube that they force passengers into while the do the post 9-11 hysterical security check of the boat.  I remember when foot passengers started getting on the second the boat was unloaded.  In my opinion that horrible glass tube they they cram everyone into is disaster waiting to happen, that is where a terrorist could really strike and hurt a lot of people.  I'm always one of the last people to go into the terrible tube.

My Vina Cafe source
There are aways few fellow PTSD sufferers who seem to agree and also refuse to cram into the tube until the last possible minute.

According to Pokemon I walked 16 Kilometers in Seattle.  That's about ten miles.  I have walked over 1000 kilometers playing Pokemon so far.  I have not counted any of my Pokemon miles in my hiking totals.

I'm a bit under the weather now and did not make it out to hike at all this week.  Next week I might get to do some snow hiking.  For now I hope you enjoy seeing some of my street photography.

Headed back to the ferry

More fun with shapes and lights on the ferry

I preferred to sit outside in the dark.

Pulling into Bummertown, land of  Birth, death Chaos and Confusion

Bus back to the soggy ass backwards land that time forgot via Belfair

Racist redneck who always tries to offer advice to the young women on the bus.  He
really pissed me off on a different trip when he kept trying to talk to my daughter while ignoring me.
My daughter was 12 and the time, but he thought she was  college student.
