Lake Slimy Egg

Back to Lake Slimy Egg for a nice hike with the new dog.  Trying to break her in slowly as she is overwieight and she was not a hiker.  This was only six miles round trip and it was level.  She seemed to do well.

I like how Sage sleeps at lunchtime rather then begging for my lunch.  I found a mess of White Chaterelles.

Next I will let Sage rest for a week, I don't want to wear out her pawpads!

it's easy to see how rose hips are related to apples

Something really sinsiter and evil happening in these woods

Skokomish First Hike with Sage

I’ve been a little under the weather all week and my new dog is not in very good shape, so I kept this hike short.  This was my first hike in the Olympics with Sage.

Sage did well, she was off leash the entire time and she stayed very close to me.  When I went wading in the river she sat close to my stuff.  After I sat down for lunch Sage laid down and went to sleep.  She is very different from Patches.  Patches never took a nap at lunch time.

Sage is about 5 years old and she is about 20 pounds overweight.  I will have to ease her into her new life as a hiker.  We wandered up the trail a bit and then went off trail down to the river a few times.  I find this trail to be rather boring and leaving it keeps me entertained.

It is too dry out for mushrooms.

5 miles with about 200 feet elevation gain.

Before her hair cut

Napping during lunch break
She has lost two pounds since I got her but she needs to lose at least 10 more

We picked up Sage in Spangle Wa.  She is 4-5 years old.  Here she is at Moses Lake on
the ride back to our house.  Sage is going to be my new hiking buddy.  She now has all of
her shots and a nice short haircut.  Now to get her into shape for hiking.
