Skokomish First Hike with Sage

I’ve been a little under the weather all week and my new dog is not in very good shape, so I kept this hike short.  This was my first hike in the Olympics with Sage.

Sage did well, she was off leash the entire time and she stayed very close to me.  When I went wading in the river she sat close to my stuff.  After I sat down for lunch Sage laid down and went to sleep.  She is very different from Patches.  Patches never took a nap at lunch time.

Sage is about 5 years old and she is about 20 pounds overweight.  I will have to ease her into her new life as a hiker.  We wandered up the trail a bit and then went off trail down to the river a few times.  I find this trail to be rather boring and leaving it keeps me entertained.

It is too dry out for mushrooms.

5 miles with about 200 feet elevation gain.

Napping during lunch break
She has lost two pounds since I got her but she needs to lose at least 10 more
