I saw the pic and thought morels, but then googled verpas - do you eat them? - they sound like one of those ones that you either get on with or you don't.
I think they are yummy. You need to cook them, but morels need to be cooked too. They have the texture of bacon. They were in the same place that I got them in last year. They have a symbiotic relationship with cottonwoods. I fear that their cotton wood will be cut down. a lot of nearby cottonwoods have been cut recently. That destruction is on my Shelton blog.
